A 16 month-old boy has temporarily come into my life and I am in love. He smiles, he says almost-words, and he is nearly walking on his own. He’s also at the stage where he’s into everything and/or throwing it off low surfaces.

I went toy shopping today to find something for the little guy and came out with a pull-along wooden snail. The snail body crawls up and down as your favorite kid pulls its leash (and works on hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity).
The company who made the toy uses sustainable methods and materials in its products. Not only is the rubberwood used responsibly (sourced from discarded rubber trees), the vibrant colours are made from soy-based inks!
The toy wasn’t cheap but it also didn’t break the bank. I’m proudly investing in a safe environmentally-friendly product and supporting a company that practices social and environmental responsibility — a great lesson for both little and big kids alike.
Look for safe, environmental toys at specialty gift shops or ask for them at your local toy store…
