Greening your Halloween

Prabhjit Banga

Pumpkin time is here once more,
so get out your rags, crafts and sewing needles,
to make a homemade costume your kids will adore.

We know kids love their chocolates and candy,
but those individually wrapped treats are not so dandy.
Find healthy nutritional sweets with less litter,
or give out colorful pencils, crayons, erasers or glitter!

When the little ghosts and goblins are ready to trick-or-treat,
avoid using plastic bags for their goodies and
give’em reusable bags or pillowcases to take to the street.

If you don’t already compost, now’s the time to begin.
Add those jack-o-lanterns and organic waste to your compost bin.

See being green is easy and this scary day is a great time to start,
these are just some of the ways to greening your Halloween and doing your part!

Stay tuned for some more Halloween tips and tricks!
