Did you know that you can save around 20% a year on your heating and cooling bills by simply reducing the temperature 5 degrees at night and 10 degrees during the day when heating, or raise it an equal amount when cooling. This sounds good, but if you’re like me, the thermostat is the last thing on my mind when I’m sprinting out the door.
Invest in a Programmable Thermostats
Luckily, programmable thermostats make it easy to save without much effort. In fact, once you get the thermostat installed and programmed to your schedule, you can stop thinking about it; your home is programmed to save. Install an ENERGY STAR® qualified programmable thermostat.

Setting the Temperature
First, decide what to set your thermostat at when you are home and awake; 20 Celsius is a good guideline in the winter. From there, program the thermostat to set back 10°-15° degrees during the times you are normally out of the house.
Traveling for the Holidays?
If you’re traveling for the holidays, be sure to use the “hold” or “vacation” feature to set back the thermostat for the time you’ll be gone. And if you’re having a party, consider holding the temperature at a lower setting. The heat from the extra bodies and cooking may be enough to keep it comfortable.
A programmable thermostat could even be that perfect last-minute gift idea you’ve been looking for!

In this case, having a window tint will surely help you a lot to save on your energy consumption. While most window films are for reducing solar heat gain in the summer, low-e films both block summer heat and improve winter heat retention. You can find out more about window film at http://www.Tintbuyer.com. They inform buyers on the actual ENVIRONMENTAL and FINANCIAL benefits of window films. Buyers must be in control by being equipped with the right information straight from the experts.
